You’ll be paying more for gas — if you can find it

The gasoline shortage had truly hit home in Charlotte by Tuesday evening.

Numerous gas stations along major corridors like Park Road were without any fuel. And if your car required premium gas, you were particularly stuck: Even fewer gas stations had any of that left.

If you can find gasoline, you’ll likely be paying dramatically higher prices for it.

AAA reported that the average price of a gallon of regular was $2.22 on Tuesday, up three cents from the day before and up 19 cents from last week.

GasBuddy put the average price even higher — closer to $2.25.

Reports had stations selling gas for as high as $2.49 a gallon, though $2.39 was a more common price.
