That's the percentage of Major League Baseball pitchers who've had Tommy John elbow surgery at some point in their lives, according to USA Today.

Why it matters: Braves ace Spencer Strider, who finished second in last year's Cy Young voting and is critical to the team's hopes of winning the World Series this year, went on the disabled list last week after an MRI revealed a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

Strider went to Texas for an evaluation, and on Friday had Tommy John surgery, which will keep him out for the rest of the 2024 season.
