Jason Kander announced Tuesday he's ending his bid for Kansas City mayor, writing in an online post that he is suffering from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from his time serving in Afghanistan.
The details: Kander, a former Missouri secretary of state who was seen as one of the rising stars in the Democratic Party, served as an Army Intelligence officer. He explained he "went to the VA in Kansas City yesterday and [has] started the process to get help there regularly."
