Gorsuch vote set for Friday

Unless something unforeseen happens, Neil Gorsuch will be confirmed as a Supreme Court justice around noon on Friday.

  1. The Senate will hold two hours of debate in the morning
  2. The vote is scheduled for 11:30 AM, and Gorsuch will pass by an estimated 55-45 margin
  3. Congress will then go into recess until the last week of April

Former Vice President Joe Biden became the formal Democratic presidential nominee on Friday evening, per AP.

Scoop: German foreign minister to travel to Israel with warning on annexation

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas is expected to travel to Israel next week to warn that there will be consequences if Israeli leaders move forward with plans to annex parts of the West Bank, Israeli officials and European diplomats tell me.

Why it matters: Israeli and European officials agree that if Israel goes ahead with unilateral annexation, the EU will respond with sanctions.
