Former President George H.W. Bush will spend the summer with family and friends at his seaside home in Kennebunkport, Maine, per the AP.

The big picture: Friends of the former president told the AP that he has wanted to visit the area — where he's spent part of every summer since his childhood with the exception of his years serving in World War II — following the death of his wife, Barbara and landing in the hospital with an infection that spread to his blood.
