Ajit Pai has declined the gun NRA awarded him at last week's Conservative Political Action Conference after conferring with the agency's ethics team, Politico first reported and Axios has confirmed.
Why it matters: During an on-stage appearance at last week's conference — a little over a week after the Parkland school shooting — an NRA executive presented Pai with the "Courage Under Fire Award" for reversing the Obama administration's net neutrality rules. Pai's staff said at the time that the gift was a surprise.
