Campbell Brown, Former NBC News correspondent and CNN prime-time host, will head up Facebook's inaugural News Partnership Team In light of increasing speculation about Facebook's role in approving the news it allows on its platform. Facebook already coordinated a fact-checking initiative with the likes of AP and Politifact last month.
Quick take: Facebook says Brown will not be involved in content decisions, but will have major influence over what pops as news for Facebook's 1.8 billion users.
Why it matters: Nearly half of the U.S. population says they get their news from Facebook and often people engage much more with fake content than real news.
