Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is "unlikely" to move forward with charges against Daniel Pantaleo, the police officer involved in the 2014 death of Eric Garner, despite the recommendation from federal civil rights prosecutors, the New York Times reports.

The details: Prosecutors suggested civil rights charges against Pantaleo, but Justice Department officials don't think the case would be successful. Per the Times, it's "rare for civil rights prosecutors to recommend criminal charges against officers" in these kinds of cases, which are "among the most difficult courtroom challenges that prosecutors face."
