Here's the final paragraph of a New York Times story on the coming fight over the budget and paying for the border wall. It's a quote from the Senate's top Democrat, Chuck Schumer:
"The onus for shutting down government falls on the governing party, which is them," he said in an interview. "They will have to face down some of the ideologues in their caucus and, on things like the wall, face down the president."
Why it matters: Democrats yesterday sent a letter to Republicans saying it would be "inappropriate" to include funding for a border wall in a regular spending bill. This signals how far they may take that fight.
