In 2012, Beto O'Rourke sprung an upset to make it into Congress, and now he has his eyes on Ted Cruz's Senate seat. The ex- punk rocker and staunch border wall opponent will announce his candidacy for the 2018 race Friday, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Working against him: Dems will be working to defend 25 Senate seats and there will be limited capacity to funnel money to the longshot Texas race. That, and Texas hasn't had a Democratic senator since 1993.
That said... Cruz's approval ratings in Texas have taken a nosedive, and O'Rourke is considered a charismatic campaigner.
