The trial over the Justice Department's lawsuit to block AT&T's proposed $85 billion purchase of Time Warner will last six to eight weeks, the judge hearing the case said Thursday.

Why it matters: It's longer than was previously estimated. An eight week trial would wrap up in mid-May. The current deadline set by the companies to close the deal is June 21.

What's next?: The court will hear arguments over evidence that may be used in the case starting Monday, Judge Richard Leon said, deriding a story saying the trial's start was being delayed as "fake news." Opening arguments in the case are expected to come on Wednesday.
