ABC announced Thursday it's planning to air a “Roseanne” spinoff this fall that won't include its lead character, Rosanne Barr.
The backdrop: The move comes less than a month after Barr was widely criticized for a racist tweet directed at Valerie Jarrett, former adviser to President Barack Obama. The tweet prompted ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey to cancel the sitcom, despite it's instant success. ABC says the new revival's working title is ‘The Conners."
