60% of Americans today favor labor unions

Per Pew, union favorability up from 48% in 2015.

  • 76% of Democrats have a favorable view of labor unions compared to 44% of Republicans
  • Republicans are divided in their views: 55% of moderate and liberal Republicans say they have a positive view of unions, while only 38% of conservative Republicans say the same.

Why this matters: Growing support for unions could be linked to Trump's election. Trump ran on some positions endorsed by unions, particularly on trade. The AFL-CIO applauded one of Trump's first big moves as president: pulling out ot the Trans-Pacific Partnership
