West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has sued the Catholic diocese of Wheeling-Charleston in a civil lawsuit alleging that the diocese and its former bishop "knowingly employed pedophiles," per the Washington Post.

Details: The suit — which the Post reports is the first sweeping claim against an entire diocese and bishop — alleges that the West Virginia diocese "failed to conduct adequate background checks" for those working in Catholic schools and camps, per a Morrisey press release.
