Speaking at the 2019 MAKERS Conference, Hillary Clinton offered praise to the record-setting number of women serving in the new Congress and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who has earned widespread praise among Democrats for not backing down to President Trump during the 35-day government shutdown, CNBC reports.

"The tidal wave of women and young people running for office is helping to build an America that's not only kinder, fairer, bigger-hearted, but safer, stronger, and more secure. And as speaker, Nancy Pelosi — doesn't that sound great — has proved yet again, it often takes a woman to get the job done."
