6 Marines declared dead after plane crash off coast of Japan

The U.S. Marine Corps has called off the search of the remaining five Marines that went missing after an aircraft collision between a KC-130 Hercules and F/A-18 Hornet off the coast of Japan, the III Marine Expeditionary Force said on Facebook Monday.

Details: With the search being called off, the death toll from the collision has risen from one to six. After the crash on Wednesday, Japanese, Australian and U.S. aircraft, ships and other assets spent approximately 900 hours searching more than 35,000 square nautical miles, III Marine Expeditionary Force said. The names of those deceased have not been released at this time.
