Gay sex is no longer a criminal offense in India after the country's Supreme Court overturned a colonial-era law, the BBC reports.
The details: The law, known as section 377, labeled gay sex as an "unnatural offense" with a potential 10-year jail sentence. India's chief justice Dipak Misra said labeling it as such "is irrational, arbitrary and manifestly unconstitutional," and that the decision to overturn it was unanimous among the five judges on the court.
