Kavanaugh calls Roe vs. Wade "settled law" in meeting with Collins

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh told Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) during a meeting Tuesday, the ruling on Roe vs. Wade granting women the right to choose to have an abortion is "settled law," the New York Times reports.

Why it matters: Collins is a potential swing vote in Kavanaugh's confirmation and previously said she would vote against any judge who would potentially overturn Roe vs. Wade's ruling. While Kavanaugh's statement that the ruling is settled means he respects its precedent, it is not an endorsement of the decision.
