Chevron reported fourth quarter earnings of $3.1 billion Friday (or $1.64 per share), compared with the $415 million ($0.22 per share) reported in Q4 2016.
What to watch: Despite the significant rise in year-over-year earnings, this year's results included a $2 billion tax benefit, "making it difficult to compare with analysts estimates," reports CNBC. Wall street had expected earnings of $1.22 a share.
