J.D. Vance, the author of “Hillbilly Elegy” who was mulling a run for a U.S. Senate seat in Ohio in this year's midterm elections, tweeted on Friday that supporters should "count me out of politics for now."
The backdrop: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had reportedly tried to court Vance about the possibility of launching a bid against Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown, per Politico.
