Fox will still air entertainment programming after Disney split, execs say

Fox Networks will continue to air entertainment programming, Variety reports. Fox Television Group chiefs Gary Newman and Dana Walden told reporters Thursday that Fox chief executive Rupert Murdoch "sees this as an enormous opportunity for the broadcast network."

Why it matters: The "New Fox," or the remaining assets leftover after the Disney merger, was supposed to focus on news and sports.

Newman and Walden also noted that Disney plans to retain the current structure and day-to-day operations of Fox until the merger is approved — supposedly 12-14 months from now. Both noted that they have not made plans about their futures with Fox or potentially Disney.
