Trump backs "repeal, then replace" plan for Obamacare
Donald Trump told the New York Times he wants Obamacare to be repealed "probably some time next week," and that "the replace will be very quickly or simultaneously, very shortly thereafter."
Elaborating on how quickly: "Long to me would be weeks."
GOP leadership has talked about delaying the implementation of repeal for at least two years, giving them plenty of time to pass a replacement.
Our thought bubble: This puts Trump kind of on the same page as Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell, but also creates an extremely unrealistic timeline for Obamacare replacement. It also puts him at odds with those in the party concerned about splitting up the two votes.
