Second largest U.S. health insurer hacked by foreign government

More than 78 million consumer records at Anthem may have been compromised including Social Security numbers, birth dates, and employment details. Anthem will provide credit protection in the meantime to those affected by the hack.

What it means: The stolen information could be used for targeted intelligence operations like phishing attacks, though more likely for espionage than identify theft. The Feds asked the private firm that discovered the breach not to disclose the foreign government involved because an investigation is ongoing.
