Obamacare hit-list includes two big GOP names

The conservative group Club for Growth has announced the names of more "moderate" House Republicans who will be targeted with pro-Trumpcare TV and digital ads — and it includes two in leadership roles:

  • House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden. He helped write a lot of the bill and even held a 27-hour markup for it. But he has also said that getting rid of Obamacare's insurance regulations — including its pre-existing conditions protections — is "a red line I will not cross."
  • Chief Deputy Whip Patrick McHenry. He has been one of the leaders in rounding up votes for the bill, but he drew a lot of attention for defending Obamacare's pre-existing condition protections.

Why it's happening: The Club for Growth is accusing moderates of standing in the way of an Obamacare repeal agreement and is trying to pressure them to accept it — even if it means letting states opt out of Obamacare's rules that require insurers to cover sick people.
