Music video service Vevo confirms it has been hacked

Music video service Vevo has become the latest media company to be the victim of a hacking attack, with internal company data posted onto the Internet.

  • Vevo confirmed the hack in a statement to Axios: "We can confirm that Vevo experienced a data breach as a result of a phishing scam via Linkedin. We have addressed the issue and are investigating the extent of exposure."
  • The Vevo data dump follows incidents at HBO and Sony, but looks to be more limited than other hacks, according to a source.
  • Why it matters: Incidents highlight the vulnerability companies face when even a single employee falls victim to a phishing attack, or other credential-compromising scheme.
