Mexico's new foreign relations secretary Luis Videgaray says the country wants NAFTA negotiations as soon as possible, according to the AP.
In a Radio Formula interview Tuesday, Videgaray said:
- Trump's actions have caused concern.
- "That is why this (negotiation) process is so important, to dispel this uncertainty."
- Talks should start "as soon as possible."
- Mexico is willing to negotiate over Trump's plan to build a border wall, but Mexico won't pay for it.
Why this matters: Trump has vowed to renegotiate NAFTA, and threatened a "big border tax" to those who send make goods in Mexico to sell in the U.S. This is a sign that he'll have a more willing partner than people expected.
