House Republicans stockpiling for 2018

House Republicans have a tough campaign cycle in 2018, so they need a larger political war chest than usual. They're off to a good start, having raised $20.5 million so far this year.

The National Republican Congressional Committee raised $10.5 million in February, the second month in a row the group says it's broken a fundraising record (they raised $5m at the same time in the last cycle in Feb. 2015).

Speaker Paul Ryan — who's proven to be a consistently prolific fundraiser since taking over from John Boehner — raised almost half of the NRCC's monthly total.
