Case Foundation CEO: Tech is an "unfriendly environment" for women

Jean Case, CEO of the Case Foundation and Chairman of the National Geographic Society Board of Trustees, joined an Axios event this morning, discussing access to the Internet, tech and media, and the impact on culture and politics. Although Case said the promise of artificial intelligence and machine learning "could be a beautiful thing," she pointed out that nearly all of the engineers creating algorithms are white men.

"Women and people of color are being left behind" in tech and in the fight for venture capital, Case told Axios' Mike Allen. She added that tech today is an "unfriendly environment" for women: "That bro culture is kind of a new dynamic."
