Australia has voted 62% in favor of legalizing gay marriage in a non-binding survey, the Financial Times reports. The turnout for the vote was 80%. Shortly after the vote was announced, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull tweeted out a video message calling on the Parliament to get it done by Christmas.
The big picture: If a real vote passes in Australia, it will join the 25 countries who have legalized gay marriage — including, most recently, Germany — per Pew.
