Aetna loses personal information for hundreds of customers

Big story in Becker's Hospital Review this morning: Aetna says it lost a CD last September containing the names, addresses, Social Security information, and health care information of 850 customers. An envelope that was supposed to contain the CD showed up at an Aetna office empty, though the company said there no reason to think anyone stole the information.

Why it matters: This proves insurers need to remain vigilant about privacy protections and realize that cyber attacks aren't the only threat.
